I first met Jeanne this past January, during the bodybuilding.com 200k Transformation Challenge. It was a 12 week total transformation contest and we all had a forum to chat, offer advice and support one another. Even though we were all competing against each other, everyone got along well and built everyone else up. It was a fun experience and we've remained friends ever since.
Jeanne is a great example of how it's never too late to get a grip on your health and turn it around 180. In January, Jeanne was 45 years old and hunched over an office desk, suffering from a movement disorder. She had recently come off foot surgery that grounded her for six months. Although she had taken some initial steps to get into shape, she hadn't gone full-throttle, yet. When she saw the contest, she saw it as a sign. It was time to go all in and see what she could do.
Over the next three months, Jeanne achieved a dramatic transformation by working out religiously. She did a lot of cardio, lifted some weights and ate a very strict diet. The result she achieved was nothing short of "Holy Crap!"
As amazing as this transformation is, she ended up in a place where her calories were too low to go anywhere else. Maintenance isn't really possible for too long on super low calories, nor is building muscle. Jeanne was at a crossroads: keep grinding, or change things up a bit?
When she went out to the Olympia in Vegas last month, she met a bunch of bodybuilders and got inspired. She has decided she is going to up those calories and work more on lifting, less on cardio. She wants to do a little bulking, or muscle-building. We have been talking about her going in this direction for a while, now, and when she decided to go for it, we made a plan to document her progress.
We thought it would be beneficial to show that a 45 year old, out-of-shape, office worker can take control of their life AND show people that rock bottom calories do, in fact, bottom out. This is a work in progress to reverse that metabolic crash. Starting next week, I'll keep you posted on Jeanne's start point, goals, and progress! Stay tuned....
